- All kinds of visa request must be done through the Embassy of Vietnam. Vietnamese VISA can be applied for by mail or in person at the Embassy of Vietnam in Canada (55 Mackay street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1M2B2) up to 1 year prior to the date of entry into Vietnam.

- The processing time is five (05) business days since the receipt of complete documents.

- Traveller can also request for RUSH service (2 business days processing service after the receipt of complete application (additional processing fee required).

- The applicant can apply for:

+ Regular tourist/business/visiting relatives/volunteering... visa

+ Diplomatic/official visa

+ Landing visa (to be picked up on arrival) in case of emergency

I. Visa application dossier: The applicant must submit the followings:

1. Original passport (which requires at least 6 months of remaining validity from the date of travel to Vietnam to meet airlines' requirement) with at least one (01) blank page left. The applicant may submit 2 copies of passport (picture page) to request loose-leaf visa without sending original passport.

2. Completed visa application form. Since March 14th 2014, all the application forms must be completed ONLINE and be PRINTED OFF (in black and white with high quality printer). Click here for online form or visit: http://visa.mofa.gov.vn

Important NOTE: (1) choose ENGLISH for language (top right corner);

(2) select place of visa submission and place of visa collection: VIET NAM EMBASSY IN CANADA (even for those who apply for visa by mail);

(3) field with (*) is compulsory.

(4) online form must be completed within 15 minutes before the session is expired.

3. One (1) colour picture taken within twelve (12) months of the date of applying (4 x 6 cm or canadian passport photograph size).

4. One copy of the applicant's valid passport (not applicable for loose leaf visa request)

5. Visa fee: must be paid in form of cash, money order or bank draft, payable to "The Embassy of Vietnam" or credit card (credit card transaction service fee (3% of transaction amount) will be charged and credit card charge form need to be filled out). Visa fees are various and depend on the length of stay in Vietnam, on visa types and are subject to be changed from time to time. Please contact the visa officer to be advised on current visa fees. Please be aware that the application fee is non refundable.

6. A pre-paid self-addressed return envelope/waybill for those who apply by mail. Canada Post Priority, Xpress post or FEDEX express are highly recommended (please keep note your envelope tracking number and passport number to check your visa status if necessary). For applicant's passport and/or visa safety, regular mail is NOT accepted. Applicants applying together may submit one envelope to be returned to the same address.
